A
ride to benefit Lake Logan Episcopal Center
and the Blue Ridge Parkway's
"Parks as Classrooms" program
"A
whole other world ... a sanctuary for the soul"
Sooner
or later you will come. Maybe for the first time, or if you're
lucky, for the hundredth. You will come to the mountains of western
North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Parkway. You'll come for the
quiet, for the spirit, for the vitality of these sacred summits.
These mountains are beyond value - priceless. Yet today
they are being threatened by development, air pollution, acid rain and
other environmental hazards. On the Sacred Summits Cycling Tour, you
will experience firsthand the beauty and fragility of these pristine
mountain landscapes and the famous roadway that traverses them.
As a society,
we cannot protect what we do not appreciate. Proceeds from the 2006 Sacred
Summits Cycling tour will go directly to the Blue Ridge Parkway's "Parks
As Classrooms" program
and to environmental programming at the Lake Logan Center.
The
Sacred Summits biking challenge is a tangible way for you to show your
support for these vistas that are irreplaceable. Our ride will be challenging,
asking you to give your best. But if you are looking for a ride that
could ever change your soul, and leave you with an imprint of sites
to be long remembered, then join us.
"We
need to work together - all of us - to hand this gift along" -
